Black beauties!

Black is one of my most favorite colors and following are my most wanted black items in the list.

Black sky with twinkling stars

images (1)

There is so much in this universe than just the planet earth. So many tiny looking stars in the sky which make up for the galaxy. I just find myself at peace when I get to watch that dark black sky in the night with countless number of small little stars. And if that’s at the sea shore/beach, just perfect!

Black gadgets

I love my gadgets to be black! Be it laptop, mobile, camera, headphones, external hard disks, portables …

Black cloths

Shopping doesn’t excite me a lot. I hate that idea of searching through and trying hell of different cloths to choose a few. What comes to my rescue is my favorite black color. Anything black is a must to have!

Black long hair

My hair is brown in color naturally but then I crave for that long black hair!

Black n white images

Being in a profession of web/media, I play a lot with colors. But then nothing beats those black and white images /art work! The charm is totally different!

Zest experience!

We all live a routine life everyday. From the time we wake up till we go to sleep, we have fixed set of things that we do all the days. If it’s a holiday/Sunday, again we have a typical routine set which is little different from other days but then it’s again pretty much the same for all the holidays. All these at times get too boring and monotonous and we all want a change. Some do make an effort to bring in a change once in a while and the rest all continue the same way as always. So then what is that change or zest that brings meaning to my life and makes it exciting  ?

I just love to get lost in the dream world while reading books. The suspense of what will happen next and the way story unfolds, is the most fascinating experiences. Fiction is my favorite genre along with mythology/history.

Nothing can beat sitting in the balcony/window sipping hot cup of tea, watching the rain droplets falling and that wet sand smell. It’s heaven! And if it is accompanied with the favorite book to read, just perfect! I even love walking in rains but that gets quite clumsy at times in Mumbai due to bad roads with pot holes and dirt around.

Exploring new places/outing

I like to travel and love to explore new places. It gets really wonderful if the holiday is with the loved ones. Even simple outings like trying out a new restaurant / going to a new place near by / just a walk with my loved one / walk on the beach / gazing the sea is what I look forward to at the bare minimum. Backpacking tour to a favorite destination is the ultimate zest!

Who doesn’t love surprises, and I am no exception to that. Just not the surprises from the loved ones but the surprises via circumstances are the ones to look forward too. And if that comes in as a short break or a holiday to a destination I always wanted to go to, just awesome!

Be a child!

just be a child logo new a copy

Everyone has a child within even after one grows up. With growing up brings in a lot of changes and responsibilities and you forget the child within you. Once in a while, you want someone to pamper you, treat you like a child, make all your wishes come true, handle all your tantrums and the list is long here 😉

This post is a part of the #ZestUpYourLife activity in association with TATA Zest and

coupons, cashback and bargain!

It was the time of Diwali when the Sale season was at the full swing and everyone was looking for great offer coupons to buy stuff. I was just following all the deals, and cash backs which all the online sites were offering and I came across this deal on Flipkart which I couldn’t resist. But before that,a little background of why I was so desperate to buy.

IMG-20130531-WA0022I ended up breaking the screen of my Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3 at a social function. This was the first major disaster that happened to any of my gadgets. I have always been so particular about my gadgets that this was almost an unbelievable thing. I was all the more upset when I got to know that the screen replacement might cost me about 10K and that to the screens were not available in India as the device had not launched here officially. It was indeed not worth spending 10K on this phone when the actual cost of the new one was about 13-15K.  The good part was that the phone still worked perfectly fine. I decided to continue with this until I get a good bargain for the new phone.

After a few months, at the time of Diwali, as I mentioned earlier, I saw this deal on Flipkart which offered a new Nexus 4 with great deal. 15% cash back on Standard Chartered credit/debit card along with 3 goodies worth 3K free. The cost of the phone was roughly about 24K. This came in as the perfect deal for me. I started looking for someone with Standard Chartered CC/DC along with good bargain to sell my old broken phone. All the vendors offered me hardly 2K for my old phone stating the screen cost of 10K and actual market price of new phone as 12K. I was sure I could get a better bargain as the phone was in a perfect working condition and that’s when some one told me about guys. I contacted them and they offered me a good  cash back of 5.5K, I was dancing like crazy with that offer. And in the meanwhile, I got a friend over twitter who was willing to help me with his Standard Chartered CC.

So then everything was sorted. Actual new gadget price 24+K, discount on StanChart CC of about 4Kish, cash back of 5.5K on the old broken phone and goodies worth 3K = New phone price of about 12Kish. Best purchase that was!

PS: I would have loved to mention the name of the person who helped me buy the new phone but for valid reasons, I’ll skip that. Many many thanks for helping me get the best deal of my lifetime 🙂

Scene 1: It’s been over 3 days and hubby has still not shaved. He generally shaves every alternate days.

Me: Why are you not shaving these days?

He: I have decided to sport a stubble.

Me: Why?!

He: People don’t take me seriously at work. I need to look more mature.

Me: !!!!

Scene 2: I decide to try and convince him that whatever he thinks is not true

Me: You know what, it is just an assumption by men that if they sport a stubble, they look more mature.

He: No, I have been meeting clients and they don’t seem to take me seriously.

Me: What do you mean by not take you seriously? Do they not give you projects?

He: I do get projects but still.

Me: If you have to interview two men, one with stubble and one without, whom would you choose?

He: I don’t know. It would also matter who has more experience and skill sets.

Me: Exactly. So it ideally doesn’t matter whether a man has stubble or no!

He: No, I still feel I need to have a stubble to be able to look more mature and serious.

Me: If you notice all the male film actors, even they look the best clean shaven!

He: but they still change the look as per the movie!

Me: Aaaaarrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!

Scene 3: Party Invite

He: Honey, we have to go for a party tonight. Make sure you are all dressed up and look the way I want to see you 😉

Me: Of course Darling 🙂

Scene 4:  Hubby comes home and we get ready for the party

Me: So what are you going to wear?

He: I am wearing my favurite black party shirt.

Me: And the stubble?

He: Naaaa, I am going to keep that. I look cool!! What are you wearing?

Me: I had bought this nice dress that I wanted to wear but I am rethinking now. (showing him the dress and checking his reaction)

He: Why? Wear that na, You’ll look beautiful.

Me: Yep I know but only one condition.

He: What condition?

Me: You have to shave and look the way I like you always!! I hate your stubble and you know that!

He: Stunned!!

He did shave as he desperately wanted to see me in that dress, but again the same story the next day onwards 🙁

Scene 5: We go out for a dinner (this time I choose not to argue with him for shaving before going on dinner as I was anyways tired of all the tricks and arguments)

There was cute little girl next table where we were having dinner.

Me: Isn’t that kid so cute?

He: yeah. (and he started playing with her, making faces etc.)

Me to the kid: give me a kissy na?

(Kid gave me a kiss and I reciprocated)

Me to the kid: Now give a kissy to uncle?

Kid: No and she started ignoring my hubby

Me to the kid: Why are you not giving kissy to uncle? you don’t like him?

Kid: That thing hurts (pointing to his stubble)!!

Hubby: 😐 !!!

Me: Wide grin 😀 (I have done that so many times to him and it doesn’t even matter to him! This kid taught him a good lesson)

Don’t even think that after that episode, he again started sporting clean shaven look. Noooooooo.

Scene 6: Outing with hubby. I met him directly after his office

He: Why are you wearing this stupid jeans and tee? You have so many nice dresses

Me: Because I wanted to wear this.

He: You know I don’t like these, still you wear it?

Me: So? I would wear what I like to wear. If I tell you to shave because I don’t like it, will you do it?

He: 😐 !!!

Scene 7: Over two months.

He: Why are you looking so different?

Me: different as in?

He: Your eye brows have grown and hands are not waxed etc. etc. Are you not going to the parlor?

Me: No

He: why? I that parlor closed down? You could try and find another one in that case.

Me: The parlor is open and running.

He: then why are you not going? You don’t look good this way. I like it if you look perfectly groomed. Look at your nails!!!

Me: Why don’t you shave? I like your clean shaven look!

He: 😐 !!!

Scene 8: Bathroom

He: what are you doing?

Me: Learning how to shave as I apply the shaving cream on my face

He: Why?

Me: Because once I practice, I can help you shave. You seem to be too lazy to do that !!

Scene 9: In my dream

I hate that stubble and the only way to get rid of it is, give a sleeping pill to hubby, take him to permanent hair removal salon and get his stubble hair removed permanently. When he gets up from his long sleep, he’ll always be clean shaven 😀

But as you can see, the dream is just a dream and I cannot make it a reality. Sigh!

So, whatever we try, come what may, guys don’t listen and they won’t shave. It is really really hard to convince them on this. At times they are plain lazy and at times, they come up with such weird reasons which are not at all justified.  They want us to be well groomed, prim and proper but won’t listen if we demand the same. But then we can’t leave them like that, can we? 😉
